Math Model Teacher Cadre

Six CFISD math teachers were welcomed into the Math Model Teacher Cadre with surprise visits by representatives from the curriculum and instruction team on May 7-8.

The following six educators joined 12 existing Math Model Teachers in the select group:

·         Kirk ES second-grade teacher Yanine Zambrano;

·         Swenke ES second-grade teacher Diane Prestridge;

·         Kirk ES third-grade teacher Myrna Sloan;

·         Keith ES fourth-grade teacher Megan Breidenthal;

·         Emery ES fourth-grade teacher Melanie Maxie; and

·         Farney ES fifth-grade teacher Amy Abramowitz.

To be accepted into the cadre, teachers must apply and have two references, one of whom must be the principal. Applicants express how they meet the needs of individual students, and are evaluated and observed by Kristi Richter, elementary math coordinator, before being accepted into the cadre.

“These teachers are recorded for professional development, serve as an observation site for other teachers and help to give more insight on professional development and curriculum in our district,” Richter said.
