Kiwi taste test at Postma and Rennell ES

The food service department teamed up with the math and instructional technology departments to integrate a kiwi and red grape taste test for third-grade students at Postma and Rennell ES on Sept. 11.

The math technology coordinators created a survey on iPads for students to vote if they liked the kiwi and red grapes. The students then watched the results projected live on a projector during lunch while Kristi Richter, elementary math coordinator, helped the students make the connection to their curriculum.

“Students got to see their study of double bar graphs come to life in a real-life situation,” said Michelle Voelkel, food service marketing coordinator. “We were very excited to see how much the students loved kiwi. The students enjoyed watching the results display on the screen while they cheered for their favorite fruit to win. We are very grateful to the math department, Postma and Rennell elementary schools for helping make this a successful event.”
