Young adult author inspires students at Salyards MS

Terri Hosea's READ 180 class listens to young adult author Jordan Sonnenblick talk about his work as an author and the importance of reading.
A class of eighth-grade language arts students at Salyards MS participated in a Skype session with young adult author Jordan Sonnenblick on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Salyards MS eighth-grade language arts teacher Terri Hosea set up the Skype session as a way to inspire her students to enjoy reading.

Sonnenblick writes novels for young teenagers to encourage them to read and expand their imagination. Students in Hosea's READ 180 class were able to ask questions about why reading is important, and where he gets his inspiration.

"The kids really enjoyed talking to Jordan," Hosea said. "They asked great questions and he told them of his love for reading when he was their age. Many students were inspired by how much time and effort he put into writing his first book, Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie."
