Matzke ES Dogs of Character

Dogs of Character, an anti-bullying, empathy-based assembly taught with the assistance of rescued dogs, visited Matzke ES on Jan. 22.

Each dog in the cast taught children life lessons in perseverance, courage, self-worth, leadership and responsibility. The rescue dogs in the program are living examples of virtues children will find relatable and meaningful. Each assembly was modified to address specific needs of the participating school and their students.

Dogs of Character representative Emily Bond served as the lead presenter for the two assemblies, which showed students a living example of positive life skills and responses. Rescue dog owner Ali Hegler brought her dogs, Magnus and Brucie, to visit the children.
