Warner ES staff, community celebrate school’s 10-year anniversary

As part of Warner Elementary School’s 10-year anniversary, staff photos, yearbooks and school shirts were displayed. The school celebrated its first 10 years Jan. 9 at the school, recognizing not only its namesakes but also students, staff, parents and community members during the span.

The Warner Elementary School staff and community members came together to showcase the school’s first 10 years on Jan. 9, celebrating the anniversary with a program in the library that also included honored guests and campus namesakes Bob and Bobbie Warner.

During the celebration, the school choir performed for guests. Shirts from the 10 years were displayed, as well as staff photographs and yearbooks from throughout the years.
Warner Elementary School honored the 25 staff members who have been at the school during the entirety of its 10 years at a celebration Jan. 9 at the school.
“Those of us that have not been here the entire 10 years found it educational, as we began to realize there were some things about our school we didn’t know prior to planning the 10-year celebration,” said Warner Principal Schonda Kidd, the school’s second principal after she replaced Mike Maness in 2012. “There were so many things that we wanted to share and spotlight about our school – our student population, parent volunteers, awesome staff, school awards, clubs and the people that have been involved in Warner’s success as we have grown.”

Warner opened its doors in 2007. It went from CFISD elementary school No. 46 to its official name after Bob and Bobbie Warner were selected as the namesakes. The two spent a combined 59 of their 69 years in education working for CFISD before both retired in 2004.

The 25 Warner staff members who have been at the school since its beginning were also recognized.

“Faculty retention says a lot about a school and its culture and climate,” Kidd said. “When I look at the 25 staff members that have been at Warner for the past 10 years, I can’t imagine our school without any of them. They are truly the heart of Warner.”
