Career and Community Connections Fair 2019

The Career and Community Connections Fair, a CFISD event created to give access to individualized post-secondary training, education and employment services to May graduates with special needs, was held Feb. 27 at the Berry Center. The event also provided transition information to the students' families.

For the fifth consecutive year, graduating seniors receiving special services and students over 18 who are mastering employability and independent living skills came together to explore training and job opportunities at this unique event.

Nearly 450 students and more than 200 parents and families spent their morning learning more about college, technical school, training facilities and on-the-job experiential learning options available after high school graduation.

"We will report the hiring statistics as we receive them, but the positive comments are flooding in – Career and Community Connections 2019 was a big hit!" said Debbie McCart, transition and family services coordinator.

Next year's districtwide transition event is scheduled for Feb. 26, 2020.
