Tipps Elementary 'TAP' girls close out school year

The Tipps Elementary TAP (Tigers Achieving Power) Girls' Club concluded the 2022-2023 school year with a dinner and presentation on May 16 at the campus.

The program, consisting of 30 fifth grade girls, is designed to build females' self-confidence, self-esteem and self-respect.

TAP focuses on building self-confidence, self-esteem, respect and other important life skills in order for students to become productive citizens and strong female leaders. This organization offered the girls a place of inspiration to value themselves to be contributors of this society.

Throughout the school year, the initiative gave the Tipps students a safe place to express themselves as they learned lessons on hygiene practices, self-esteem, team building, building positive relationships, trust, public speaking techniques, table etiquette, table manners, and short and long-term academic and career goals.

At the dinner and presentation, the students demonstrated some of the skills they acquired.

"We believe having the assurance, strong social skills and confidence and other empowerments will increase the girls academic, social, and emotional whole self," said Lisa Roberson, Tipps teacher and TAP club sponsor.
