KAMPs at Hamilton ES

Hamilton Principal Joni Conn and fifth-grade student Audrey Arroyave hold the bungee cords as fifth-grade student Sarah Harjo releases the water-filled slingshot during the We’re Going the Distance, not Going for Speed KAMP on June 1.

From May 27-29 and June 1, Hamilton ES offered KAMPs (Kids And Multiple Possibilities) as a way to provide enrichment activities for kindergarten through fifth-grade students.

The different KAMPs are designed around staff members’ interests, hobbies and talents, and feature Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) embedded in the lessons. Students had the opportunity to select the KAMP that they are most interested in attending.

The dozens of KAMPs offered including Let’s Get Crafty, Coding Commandos, Critter Community, Passion for Painting, Pet Vet, Future Name That Book Rock Stars, Who Did It? Crime Scene Investigations, Live in Five, Easy Eats: No Cook, No Bake, No Fuss and Bump, Set, Spike! Volleyball 101.

“The kids love KAMP!” said Principal Joni Conn. “They have looked forward each new day to discovering and experiencing something that they are curious about. The buzz in the hallway after KAMP is contagious. As you walk around you can see the smiling faces on each of our happy KAMPers.”

Hamilton fifth-grade student Abby McGown paints the stone Lion in the school courtyard during the Turtles, Turtles, Turltles – Oh My! KAMP on June 1.
