Teachers earn master's in education through University of Houston cohort

Eighteen CFISD teachers celebrate the earning of Masters in Education from the University of Houston at commencement on Dec. 18.

Eighteen CFISD teachers recently earned master's in education through the joining forces of CFISD and the University of Houston. As a part of the UH instructional program, teachers were accompanied by a mentor from CFISD who provided coursework clarity and connections to the world of school administration.

"The collaborative effort allowed us to capitalize on the expertise of various district leaders as they infused into the curriculum how CFISD performs the various functions of being a campus administrator," said Roy Garcia associate superintendent, school administration and leadership development. "It was a wonderful addition to our leadership development initiative."

With supportive principals, a quality instructional program of UH and willingness from district leaders to participate in the development of the teachers, all eighteen teachers successfully passed their SBEC/TEA Texas Principal Certification Exam on their first attempt.
