Customer Service Tip of the Week: Giving people our undivided attention

What is undivided attention? It's defined as when a person is completely paying attention to only one thing, focusing totally on the task at hand. Many times, in order to finish a project, we have to slow down and really concentrate on the assignment we need to complete. We give it our undivided attention.

Why is undivided attention important in a customer service situation? When we give someone our undivided attention, they feel valued and important. When assisting any customer, either in person or on the phone, it's important to always be in the present. Being present requires you to be ready to provide the customer with your full, undivided attention from start to finish. Customers should be our center of attention.

If we slow down and give each customer undivided attention, not only will we be able to assist them better, we will be showing them complete respect. Respect is what every one of our customer deserves.
