District translators come together for Spring workshop

District translators enjoyed a day of learning, collaboration and networking during the Spring translators workshop at the Berry Center on Feb. 20.

Translators from around the district met at the Berry Center on Feb. 20 for a workshop focusing on communication, grammar, interpretation and vocabulary.

Rosario Meehan, coordinator for Spanish public relations, and Emilia Rivas, curriculum department translator, led general sessions and mini-sessions that provided insight on effective Spanish translation and customer service for Spanish-speaking parents and community members.

"The translators enjoyed the comradery and networking," Meehan said. "Our goal was to provide useful tools for the assigned campus and department translators. We strive to ensure quality Spanish translations districtwide."

Approximately 80 translators and representatives from 49 district campuses and facilities (see list below) attended the workshop. The next workshop will take place in the Fall of 2017.
