Get Social Media Savvy with @CyFairJoel: Third-party apps liven up your posts

We’ve discussed before how social media is a visual platform – the more photos and graphics you include, the better chance you have of grabbing followers’ attention.

If you don’t have the perfect photo to go with a post, or if the context of the tweet or Instagram post doesn’t call for a picture, no longer do you have to be a creative wizard to craft your message. Instead, utilize a variety of third-party apps that will do the hard work for you.

The most popular seems to be Canva, an app that provides multiple templates, options and designs to create ready-made posts for Instagram or Twitter. I also like the Rhonna Designs Suite, which (for a price) comes with three design apps allowing you to make some magic with your words, quotes or images.

If you’re a big fan of adding text or drawing on top of your images, you could go with something as basic as YouDoodle, or give it an artsy feel with Wordswag, which gives you thousands of images and 250 font layouts and options.

If you have a short video that you think would be a hoot in .gif format, check out the ImgPlay app. I use this all the time  to splice together my DSLR photos or iPhone videos to make entertaining .gifs that have great replay value. Purchase the “Pro” version to remove watermarks.
There are a ton of these third-party apps out there, so if you have other recommendations, please leave them in the comments or @ me!
