Thornton principal has head shaved to encourage students

As a way to encourage students to prepare for and do well on the STAAR test this year, Thornton Middle School principal Reggie Mitchell selected students to shave his head during an assembly on May 17.

"Mr. Mitchell knows how to inspire students to strive for excellence and he knows it’s about more than scores," Thornton director of instruction helping teacher Jennifer Seams said. "Today, to our crowd of eighth graders, he reminded them that we are counting on each of them to rise up and make our community better."
