Teachers receive scholarships from RHYT, finish graduate program

Four CFISD Spotlight Teachers recently completed a one-year accelerated graduate school program due to scholarships from Raise Your Hand Texas (RYHT).

2015-2016 Spotlight Teachers Robyn Banks (Anthony MS), Lansing Brown (Cypress Falls HS), Kimberly Patton (Emmott ES) and Joan Pearson (Hamilton MS) received RYHT scholarship funds worth $9,000 apiece to participate in the Relay Graduate School of Education Master of Arts in Teaching program. The program allowed the educators to use the work in their classrooms to support their learning in the program.

Each of the teachers in the 2016-2017 cohort were placed in programs that were tailored to them based on their grade levels.

“Although it was difficult to juggle a teaching career and a one-year, accelerated grad school program, the chance to develop my craft as an educator was an experience I will never forget,” Banks said. “The opportunity provided by RYHT strengthened my curriculum and management skills in the classroom and launched my career path for my future in education. I’m extremely grateful for not only the scholarship from RYHT, but the quality education and life-long friendships that were made through this experience.”
