Coaches Alicia Almanza and Carrie Ibrahim
from Post ES hosted the school's first ever Family Health and Fitness Night on Feb. 13.
The goals of FHFN were to emphasize the importance of physical fitness,
increase awareness in multiple aspects of overall health and help families
connect with wellness related resources in their community.
It was an evening of fun, learning and physical activities
for students and their families. Highlights included Josh Salinas from Iron
Sports Gym and season nine of American Ninja Warrior. He brought his "Ninja
Versus Ninja" team and set up a mini speed course and a salmon ladder. Parents
and students alike enjoyed testing their skills.
CFISD's nutrition services department brought
out the Blender Bikes, and students created the energy required to blend
nutritious smoothies by pedaling the stationary bikes.
Nurse Kerri Lamance,
assisted by the Jersey Village HS HOSA club, presented families with CPR demonstrations.
Post ES is located in Jersey Village. Post and CFISD staff and resources, 12 local businesses and teams, JVHS HOSA and NHS
facilitated 24 booths and stations. Nearly 900 people were in attendance.
