Willbern ES celebrates Starry Winter's Night

Willbern ES celebrates their Starry Winter's Night event with more than 300 students and their family members.
Willbern ES celebrated an a successful record breaking attendance with their program Starry Winter’s Night on Monday, Jan. 25.

The fun-filled program featured academic learning stations focused on extending learning at home. Students from all grade levels and their parents were given the opportunity to visit a variety of learning stations that highlighted grade-level academic expectations.

Willbern ES students and parents engage in hands-on academic activities to encourage learning to continue at home.
Many classrooms were utilized during an entertaining evening that featured hands-on activities that allowed students to make academic games or learning tools and take them home to increase academic awareness. Upon the completion of each activity, students were given a raffle ticket to allow them to enter their tickets into a drawing for several prizes consisting of various forms of electronics and gift cards.

All prizes were donated by the Willbern ES PTO and The Houston First Church of the Nazarene. In addition, nine health care representatives from the CFISD community had tables set up throughout the foyer with information for our visitors.

Having a fun interactive atmosphere provided Willbern ES students and parents the opportunity to connect their classroom learning to home.
“This was truly a great turnout for a Title One campus,” reported Connye Roberson, Willbern ES principal. “In every room I visited, parents and students were completely engaged in learning and having fun.”
