conference room. The bi-annual training is held in partnership
between the curriculum and instruction and communication
departments. Nearly 70 representatives across 35 campuses
and two departments attended.
In partnership with the curriculum and instruction department, the communication department held its Translator Workshop in February, a bi-annual training focused on Spanish grammar and vocabulary for campus translators.
Held on Feb. 18 at the CFISD Natatorium’s conference room, the Translator Workshop was attended by representatives from 35 campuses in addition to the transportation and guidance and counseling departments (see list below). In total, 76 individuals registered for the workshop and 68 attended.

attended the Translator Workshop in February at the CFISD
Natatorium conference room. The bi-annual training focuses on
teaching standardized Spanish vocabulary to campus translators
and provide better customer service when communicating
and interacting with Spanish-speaking constituents.
The workshop was split into two sessions (morning and afternoon) to provide flexibility to anyone wanting to attend. Leading the classes were Rosario Meehan, coordinator for Spanish public relations, Dunia Manzano, Spanish translator specialist, and Emilia Rivas, Spanish curriculum specialist.
Joel Weckerly, director of communication, and Maria Trejo, director of curriculum and instruction for special populations, both attended sessions to welcome and encourage workshop attendees.
