Moore Elementary teacher among winners in '100 Teacher Disney Celebration'

Moore Elementary School fourth-grade math and science teacher Trisha Turner was selected as one of the winners for the 100 Teacher Disney Celebration. As a winner, Trisha and a guest will be going to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., this month as part of the 100 Years of Walt Disney Celebration.

Applicants were asked to write an essay about how they bring wonder, creativity and imagination to life in their curriculum to inspire students in new ways. Trisha wrote about working at a Title 1 campus, the importance of building relationships with students and included information on their energy robot project. 

According to a Disney release, the 100 elementary, middle and high school teachers hail from 39 different states and were selected from more than 7,900 applicants. The teachers chosen demonstrated the spirit of creativity and imagination in their classrooms to inspire students and play a key role in shaping the minds of America's future leaders.
