June 6, 1954 - Sept. 10, 2024
Renay Johnson was a loving wife and mother, a supportive
sister, a devoted educator, and a source of love and joy for those around her.
She dedicated her life to The Lord very early in life and was a 40+ year member
of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.
Renay was studious and the very first in the family to
graduate from a university. She graduated from UCLA and paved the way for
others in the family to continue to higher education, as well as to work in
education themselves. Renay married Ronald Hill (who passed in 2023) in
California in 1983 before moving to Texas to both work as educators. A few
years later, they began their family in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and had three
wonderful children: Rhema, Rebekah and Royce.
Renay was recruited and hired as an elementary school teacher
in Waller ISD where she taught first-sixth grades for 15 years. Desiring to
work closer to her children, Renay was recruited and accepted a position in
CFISD where she taught as a kindergarten teacher for 15 years at Frazier
Elementary. She retired in 2013 after 30 years of service in education.
Renay
volunteered her time in the children’s church at Lakewood, was a Girl Scout
Leader and active team mom and cheerleader through all of her children’s sports
and extracurricular activities. Throughout her life, she was passionate about
art, puzzles, musicals, reading, and watching a variety of movies. From small
interactions to lifelong friendships, Renay was a blessing to those who met
her. Her smile, her laughter, and her genuine kindness made everyone around her
feel loved and accepted.
Treasuring
her legacy are her children: Rhema Baquero, Rebekah Hill, and Royce Hill (who
have all worked in CFISD), a host of family, friends, and grandchildren still
to come.
