Ronald "Ronnie" Jay Dunlap, Cy-Fair High School alumnus and longtime CFISD employee, passed away on Feb. 12, 2021. Ronnie was raised in the close-knit and loving community of Carverdale, where he attended elementary, middle, and part of high school. In his 10th-grade year, he integrated into Cy-Fair High School, where he was a vital member of the varsity basketball team. He, along with his twin brother Donald Ray, won the 1971 state dhampionship—the only championship for the Cy-Fair boys' basketball team in history. 

After high school, he attended Kilgore Junior College, then McNeese State and East Texas Baptist University (ETBU), where he played basketball.

After college, he worked for Brown & Root (Halliburton) and then returned to CFISD, working in the operations department from 1986 until his retirement in 2012. He retired as the head custodian at Langham Creek High School, a position he held since 1996. Prior to becoming a head custodian, Mr. Dunlap worked as a custodian at Cypress Falls, Langham Creek and Cypress Creek high schools.

In January 2005, he was inducted into the Cy-Fair High School Athletic Hall of Honor – Basketball, 1971.

In Memory of Jan Aragon

Dec. 20, 1934 - Feb. 15, 2021

After a battle with dementia and other health issues, Jan H. Aragon, longtime CFISD employee and namesake for Aragon Middle School, passed away peacefully in hospice care on Monday, Feb. 15. Jan was a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD staff member for 35 years. She taught English, history, and sociology at Arnold Junior High School and Cy-Fair High School for 16 years. Ms. Aragon was an assistant principal at Cy-Fair High School before being named the principal of Dean Junior High School. She opened Cook Junior High School as its principal and, in 1989, became the principal of Cypress Creek High School until her retirement in 1996. She was recognized as the namesake for Aragon Middle School before the campus opened in 2001.

The family requests that in lieu of sympathy cards that all who knew her would share memories of her CFISD life by submitting pictures, stories, and video clips to the email link below. The Aragon family would love to hear stories of how Jan impacted the lives of those she served as an educator, administrator and mentor.
