My Learning to be added to professional growth system

CFISD is pleased to announce the soon to be released My Learning powered by Truenorthlogic (TNL) adding to the suite of solutions housed within the Cypress-Fairbanks Professional Growth System (CFPGS). On Monday, June 27, My Learning will replace the current Cy-Fair Learning Management System (Avatar).

While My Learning has a different look, you will find comfort in a similar feel. Along with similar functionality, there are several enhancements that you will find convenient. One inviting feature enables participants and instructors to simplify attendance with the Truenorthlogic Mobile App. Using the camera on a smartphone or tablet, course participants and instructors can scan QR codes to register attendance.

Rest assured that any future class offerings for which you have registered will roll into the new system. Additionally, you will be able to access past professional development records as this information will transfer from Avatar to My Learning.

Beginning Friday, June 24, you can anticipate down time over the weekend as the district rolls to the new platform. Additionally, you can expect detailed user directions and subsequent video tutorials aimed at equipping you with directions for navigating My Learning.

In Memory of Jane Rousseau

Jane Rousseau, retired Walker ES nurse, passed away May 27 after a fight with cancer. Rousseau was a beloved staff member at and retired from Walker ES January 2016.

Rousseau was a loving and compassionate school nurse who will be missed by many.  She served CFISD students for many years with joy and compassion. She cared for every student and staff member at Walker even while battling for her own health, and was selected as one of Houston’s top 150 nurses in the May Houston Chronicle Salute to Nurses. 

Services for Rousseau will be held June 4^th at Trinity Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. for those who wish to attend.

 

Jersey Village cheerleaders read to Post ES students

Jersey Village HS cheerleaders visited Post ES classrooms on May 25 to share stories and encourage students to read.

Lee ES student achieves more than 20,000 points in Think Through Math

Jeff Liwag of Think Through Math awarded Lee ES third-grade student Sedona Nguyen the achievement award for completing over 41 lessons and earning more than 20,000 points in less than a week. Nguyen was the leader in both points and lessons passed in CFISD last week. 

Nguyen loves learning math with Mrs. Flegeance and plans to continue to achieve as many points as possible this summer with Think Through Math Summer Math Challenge so she can donate her points to charities.
