Employee Connection readers have the option to leave comments on any blog post, with an appropriate online account. CFISD encourages this feedback as a means of culturing transparency in the district's communication. Comments will always be passed on to the appropriate departments, so concerns and questions can be addressed by the most qualified persons.

Celebrate Texas Public Schools

Districts across Texas are joining the campaign to Celebrate Texas Public Schools. Our public schools bring top quality education to more than 4 million students. Talented teachers and caring staff members and administrators set a strong foundation for this success, which is truly something worth celebrating.

CFISD supports the Celebrate Texas Public Schools campaign and encourages campuses to get involved. Below are suggested activities that can be used. Share the ways your staff and students celebrate by sending photos and stories to communication@cfisd.net.

National Principals Month (October)

Activities:

• Shadow your principal for a day and write a report to publish in the local school/community paper or on social media about what you learned and how difficult a job it is.
• Participate in the Principal Props Video Contest for a chance to win a $200 Best Buy gift card. Visit http://www.principalsmonth.org/contest.php for more information.
• Organize an Opposite Day where students dress like the principal and the principal dresses like the students.

National School Bus Safety Week (October 20-24) 

Activities:

• Share school bus safety tips every day during morning announcements; make sure to include tips for passengers and pedestrians. 

Red Ribbon Week 
(October 23-31)

Activities: 

• Have a door decorating contest at your campus. 
• Have theme days where students can dress up based on that day’s theme. 
• Go to redribbon.org for more activities, contest and ideas on celebrating. 

Video Contest

Gold Out for September

September was National Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Campuses were encouraged to participate in Gold Out for September to spread the word about childhood cancer and raise awareness throughout the community. To showcase the creative ways your campus raised awareness, submit stories, videos and photos to communication@cfisd.net.

Cook MS celebrated a Gold Out day in which students and staff were encouraged to dress in as much gold as possible.

Follow the Lieder

The Lieder Elementary administrative team recently took a crash-course in the world of Twitter to embrace new ways to market their campus in the digital world.

The Lieder ES administrative team rocking their mobile devices to the tune of Twitter.

The hour-long training session resulted in Lieder’s leadership tweeting up a storm about all the great things happening on their campus. Principal Dr. Karen Stockton (@kstockton02) and many of the Lieder staff have joined the fun and interactive social medium, including campus secretary Kathryn Gutierrez (@kbgutierrez35), behavior specialists Lauree Benson (@BensonLauree) and Kristine Ashmead (@kristyashmead), instructional specialists Nina Campbell (@ninacamp63) and Jennifer Dove (@dove502) and assistant principal Susan Epperson (@susan_epperson).

The school also created a schoolwide account, @CFISDLieder, where tweeting has already begun on Lieder students and staff are #WildAboutLearning.
