A total of 500 students attended the 2015 College Essay Workshop,
held Aug. 12 at the Berry Center and hosted by college and career specialists,
English teachers and the office of advanced academics.
The workshop featured five sessions with a
target audience of seniors in the district. SchoolMessenger was used to
spread the word and draw a capacity crowd. Because there was so much interest, the office of advanced academics is considering offering an additional workshop in the fall.
During the sessions, students received tips for writing
strong application essays, met individually with staff to assist with editing
or creating and had access to computers.
